Did Aman Sehrawat Fear a Vinesh Phogat-like Disqualification? Here’s How He Conquered the Odds
Paris Olympics 2024: Aman Sehrawat has made India proud by winning a bronze medal in wrestling. Competing in the 57 kg freestyle category, Aman fought hard in every match. His victory wasn’t easy; he put in hours of intense training and preparation.
Aman’s Pre-Match Struggles Before the bronze medal match, Aman was so concerned about his weight that he spent the entire night in the gym, sweating it out and jogging extensively. This fear stemmed from the recent disqualification of Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was eliminated for being just 100 grams over the weight limit.
Aman’s Precautions Paid Off To avoid a similar fate, Aman took every precaution. He wore a jacket for 2-3 hours before the match to sweat out extra weight and maintained strict control over his diet, even bringing food from India to Paris. Aman’s careful management of his weight ensured that he could compete for the bronze medal without any issues.
Vinesh Phogat’s Disqualification For context, Vinesh Phogat, another top Indian wrestler, was disqualified from the gold medal match due to being 100 grams over the weight limit. Despite excellent performances in the quarterfinals and semifinals, this slight weight issue led to her disqualification. She has since appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for a reconsideration of her silver medal.
India’s Medal Count in Paris So far, India has won a total of 6 medals at the Paris Olympics 2024. This tally includes 3 medals from shooting, 1 from hockey, and 1 from javelin throw. With Aman Sehrawat’s bronze, India has now added wrestling to its list of achievements.
Aman’s dedication and strategic preparation have not only secured him a place on the podium but also showcased his commitment to overcoming challenges and representing India with pride.
