Big News! BSNL’s New Universal SIM to Support 4G and 5G Nationwide

BSNL is making a major leap in telecommunications by introducing a new universal SIM card that supports both 4G and 5G networks. This significant update means that users can now enjoy seamless connectivity and more flexibility with their mobile services across the country.

Introducing the Universal SIM Card

The state-owned telecom giant has announced that it will provide users with both Over-The-Air (OTA) and Universal SIM (USIM) cards. These new SIMs will allow users to activate and use their services without any geographic restrictions. Additionally, users will have the option to choose their mobile number, offering greater personalization.

On August 10, the Department of Telecommunications shared the news on X, stating: “After the rollout of 4G and 5G services, users will have the opportunity to choose their mobile number without geographic restrictions and will also receive assistance in changing their SIM.”

Partnership and Platform Launch

BSNL has collaborated with Pyro Holdings Private Limited to develop this new SIM platform. The launch event for this platform took place in Chandigarh, and it includes a disaster recovery site in Tiruchi.

BSNL highlighted that the new platform is designed to enhance connectivity and service quality for all BSNL customers across the nation. The company is progressively rolling out its 4G network and sees this new platform as a step towards better digital inclusion.

According to a statement from BSNL: “BSNL is upgrading its network for 4G and 5G. This new platform aligns with our efforts to bridge the digital divide and empower citizens in rural and remote areas, ensuring equal access to advanced telecommunications services.”
