Rohit and Kohli Out of Dilip Trophy: Jay Shah Reveals the Reason
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the teams for the Duleep Trophy 2024, which starts on September 5. While many top Indian cricketers will be playing in this tournament, star players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not be participating. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has explained why.
According to Jay Shah, “Everyone except Rohit and Virat is playing in the tournament, and that’s a good thing. We cannot force players like them to play in domestic cricket due to the risk of injury. If you notice, international players from countries like Australia and England don’t always play domestic matches. We respect our players and want to protect their fitness.”
Here’s the breakdown of the teams for the Dilip Trophy:
- Team A: Led by Shubman Gill, featuring KL Rahul, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, and Mayank Agarwal.
- Team B: Captained by Abhimanyu Easwaran, with Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Mohammed Siraj.
- Team C: Under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, including Sai Sudharsan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rajat Patidar.
- Team D: Captained by Shreyas Iyer, with Ishan Kishan in the team.
It’s worth noting that Ishan Kishan, who was recently removed from the BCCI contract list and had been away from domestic cricket, is making a comeback and will also be playing in the Buchi Babu tournament.
