India got second gold, Nitesh Kumar defeated Britain’s player in badminton

Nitesh Kumar Wins Gold Medal Badminton Paralympics 2024: Nitesh Kumar has won the gold medal in Paralympics 2024. He won the gold medal by defeating Daniel Bethell of Great Britain 21-14, 18-21, 23-21 in the men’s singles SL3 category of badminton. He has become the second Indian athlete to win a gold medal in Paris Paralympics 2024. Overall, this is India’s ninth medal in the 2024 Paralympic Games.

Nitesh was participating in the Paralympic Games for the first time and he has created history by aiming for the gold medal in his first attempt. He has now become only the third Indian athlete to win a gold medal in the badminton competition of the Paralympics. Before him, Pramod Bhagat and Krishna Nagar had won gold in the men’s singles competition at the Tokyo Paralympics.

India got its ninth medal

India has so far won a total of 9 medals in the Paris Paralympics. In the current games, Nitesh Kumar has become the first athlete to win a medal in badminton. So far, 4 medals have been won in shooting. Avni Lekhara has won gold, while Manish Narwal has won silver, Mona Agarwal and Rubina Francis have targeted bronze medals. The country has also got 4 medals in athletics. Nishad Kumar has won silver in high jump, Yogesh Kathuniya has won silver in discus throw, while Preeti Pal has won bronze medals in women’s 100 meter and 200 meter races.

Still two more medals expected in badminton

Apart from Nitesh Kumar, if we talk about the men’s singles competition, India can still get 2 more medals. Suhas Yathiraj has reached the final in the men’s singles SL4 category, which means his silver medal is confirmed. Sukant Kadam is going to participate in the bronze medal match in the same category. Last time India was able to win only one medal in badminton, but in the Paris Paralympics, the number of medals coming from badminton can go above 5.
