‘There is no such filth here…’, Kamya Punjabi spoke about sexual harassment in the TV industry
Kamya Panjabi On Sexual Harassment In TV Industry: The Hema Committee report has exposed the dark truth of the Malayalam film industry. Meanwhile, actress Kamya Punjabi, who has worked in daily soaps like ‘Piya Ka Ghar’, ‘Woh Rehne Wali Mahalon Ki’ and ‘Banoon Main Teri Dulhan’, has now claimed that there is no sexual harassment in the TV industry. She has said that no one is forced in the TV industry.
In an interview to News 18, Kamya Punjabi said, ‘Television has been very clean. I don’t know what used to happen earlier but now it is very clean. There is no such filth here. People are not forced or blackmailed here. There is no casting couch. If you fit into a role, you have talent, then you will be selected for the show.’
‘Television is the safest place in the entertainment industry…’
Kamya further said- ‘I think television is the safest place in the entertainment industry. There is no sexual abuse here. Whatever happens, it is because there is mutual consent. No one is asking anyone to sleep with them on the promise of a role. Some actors are anti-women but if you stop it, if you make it very clear, then such things do not happen. No one is being forced to do this.’
‘Have you seen such actors who are crazy for girls…’
The actress further said- ‘It is not like your hand will touch it and you will feel uncomfortable. If you tell them, hello I don’t like this, then you will not be impressed. We have seen actors who go crazy for girls but no one forces anyone.’
Kamya then says- ‘I know some people who say that such things have happened to them. But still if a girl does not want it, then it will not happen. This does not happen in the television industry. I don’t know about films or OTT but this does not happen in TV.’
