The popular TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has given several stars household recognition. From Dilip Joshi (Jethalal) to Disha Vakani (Dayaben), many actors gained their true fame through this show. Shailesh Lodha is one such star, playing the role of Taarak Mehta for 14 years, a character loved immensely by fans.
Recently, ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ celebrated its 16th anniversary. However, over the past 3-4 years, several actors have left the show. Shailesh, who played Taarak Mehta from the beginning, left the show in 2022 following a fallout with producer Asit Kumar Modi. His departure broke the hearts of millions of fans, and Sachin Shroff stepped in to take over the role.
Shailesh was not only popular for his role but also well-known in poetry and writing, which allowed him to command a significant salary. Reports suggest that Shailesh charged around ₹1.5 lakhs per episode for playing Taarak Mehta.
Sachin Shroff’s Lesser Fee Compared to Shailesh Lodha
Sachin Shroff, who replaced Shailesh, reportedly earns about ₹30,000 per episode. This means Shailesh’s fee was approximately 400% more than what Sachin currently receives. Shailesh was one of the show’s oldest members, which contributed to his higher earnings.
Why Did Shailesh Lodha Leave ‘Taarak Mehta’?
Shailesh only shot for a few days each month for his role. He wanted to explore other shows simultaneously, but the show’s contract prohibited actors from working on other projects while being part of ‘Taarak Mehta’. Due to this restriction, Shailesh decided to leave the show.
