Badlapur Rape Accused Encounter: Akshay Shinde Shot Dead in Encounter with Police
Badlapur, Maharashtra – In a shocking turn of events, Akshay Shinde, the Badlapur Rape Accused in a heinous child rape case, was shot dead by police on Monday after allegedly opening fire during transport. This incident occurred around 5:30 PM while he was being taken from Taloja jail for further investigation.
According to police reports, Shinde managed to seize an officer’s firearm and opened fire, injuring two police officials. In response, law enforcement officers returned fire, critically wounding Shinde, who later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Shinde was arrested on August 17 for the sexual assault of two young girls, aged four and five, in a school toilet. His arrest sparked widespread outrage and protests in Badlapur, highlighting the gravity of rape cases in Badlapur. Shinde worked as a cleaner at the school, further intensifying community anger over his alleged crimes.
The Maharashtra government responded to public outcry over initial investigative lapses by establishing a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure a thorough examination of the case. Additionally, a case has been registered against the chairman and secretary of the school under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for failing to report the incident promptly. Both are currently seeking pre-arrest bail from the Bombay High Court.
The Bombay High Court has intervened to oversee the investigation, reflecting the seriousness of the situation and the demand for justice for the victims.
