Google Play Store Auto-Open Feature: Apps Could Automatically Open After Download
Google Play Store is reportedly testing a new feature that could significantly enhance the app installation experience on Android devices. Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming:
- Google Play Store Auto-Open Feature: A new feature, referred to as ‘auto-open,’ is being developed to automatically open apps once they are installed. This would remove the need to manually search for and open newly installed apps.
- How It Works: According to Android Authority and tipster Assemble Debug, the feature was first spotted in a Google Play Store update in June. It is expected to be officially announced soon. The auto-open feature appears as a new option below the Install button in the Play Store. After installation, a countdown timer appears, leading to the app automatically opening.
- User Control: Users will have the option to disable this auto-open feature if preferred, providing flexibility and control over their app management.
- Simultaneous Downloads: This feature builds on recent updates allowing up to three simultaneous app downloads or updates, enhancing the overall efficiency of app management. Previously, Google allowed up to two concurrent downloads, a feature now extended to three.
- Availability: The auto-open feature is currently not available to the public but could be rolled out to all Android users soon.
Stay tuned for more updates as Google Play Store continues to enhance user experience with new features like auto-open and simultaneous downloads.
