Water Leakage in Train: AC Coach on Jabalpur-Nizamuddin Express Flooded with Rainwater

A recent incident on the 22181 Jabalpur-Hazrat Nizamuddin Gondwana Express caused significant inconvenience for passengers when a severe water leak emerged in one of the AC coaches. The leak started shortly after the train left Jabalpur, with the M-3 AC coach being particularly affected.

The issue began modestly with a few drops of water falling from the coach’s roof. However, this soon escalated into a major problem as the water flow intensified, turning into a steady stream that cascaded down like a waterfall. This unexpected situation led to considerable discomfort among the passengers, who were forced to react quickly to the flooding.

As the water continued to pour in, passengers tried various methods to stay dry. Some opted to sit on the floor, away from the water’s path, while others used train sheets and personal belongings as makeshift shields. Despite these efforts, the discomfort was palpable, and many passengers recorded videos of the incident, which quickly spread on social media.

Upon reaching Jhansi station, the railway staff took temporary measures to address the issue. They cleaned the wet floor and placed a bucket to catch the falling water. However, these measures were only a stopgap solution, as the root cause of the problem remained unresolved.

Railway Junior Engineer (JE) SH Meena, who was dispatched to investigate the situation, found that while the water leakage was relatively minor, a more permanent fix would require intervention from the railway workshop. The engineer acknowledged that the problem needed to be addressed to prevent future occurrences.

Passengers expressed frustration over the situation. Anil, a traveler on the train, reported that the rain in Damoh exacerbated the problem, causing the leak to persist throughout the journey. Another passenger, Balpreet, noted that while the immediate response involved placing a bucket to collect the water, it did not fully resolve the issue.

The passengers were relieved to arrive at Delhi station after enduring the uncomfortable and inconvenient journey. The railway authorities are now expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the maintenance issues that led to this problem. Ensuring better upkeep and addressing such issues proactively are essential to prevent similar disruptions in the future and to maintain the comfort and safety of travelers.
